Comichaus Meets: Peter Simeti

Today we meet Alterna Comics founder and writer of 'The Chair' Peter Simeti!

Please introduce yourself and your team (if you have one).

I'm Peter Simeti, publisher and founder of Alterna Comics and creator/writer of 'The Chair'.

What are some of the comics that inspired you to start creating your own? Any creators in particular?

When I was a kid, definitely Jim Lee's run on X-Men. As an adult, titles from Top Shelf, Fantagraphics, Image, and many other indie publishers have inspired my tastes on both a creative and professional level.

How much of your own personality goes into your character(s)?

I think there's always at least a sliver of a writer's personality that goes into a character.  I've written some pretty dark and tortured characters though - so I wonder what that says about me? Hmmm...

Where did you draw your inspiration from?

Generally day to day life, mixed with wondering about what makes people tick. I've always been interested in psychology and sociology and how the two impact each other.

What do fans need to know going into their first issue of your comic?

'The Chair' is pretty intense and can be a bit disturbing - so be ready for it!

What have you got coming up in the future? Are you working on more issues?

I'm helming a horror/sci-fi/fantasy anthology series called It Came Out on a Wednesday'.  It debuts in comic shops and on news-stands this June.
