Marvel started to re-start some major titles and characters from a new issue #1 - as some of the title's cover numbers were getting too high
At #59 they realised the 'old' Amazing Spider-Man numbering would be #500 - so in Dec 2003 the old numbering was back!
With issue #700 (Feb 2013), the title was cancelled to be re-launched as The Superior Spider-Man #1.
And then that was cancelled after 32 issues and another Spider-Man #1 was launched.
