Regular ongoing series that lasted for 67 issues and 2 Annuals when along with every other title published by DC, it was cancelled in August 2011 to make way for the New 52 wave of titles.
This series features the modern Kryptonian Supergirl, Kara Zor-E l who first appeared in the Supergirl from Krypton storyline in the pages of Superman/Batman issues #8-13.
Storylines in the first few issues follow on from Kara's decision in Superman/Batman to don the Kryptonian ""S"" and be ""Supergirl"". Stories through at least the end of 2005 seem to all be concerned with her meeting different, typically female, DCU heroes in search for answers about whom she should become.
The Superman/Batman series, especially issues #8-13, are integral to this run of Supergirl. Anyone attempting to start their exploration of this incarnation of Supergirl would be well-advised to read the Loeb-written issues of that series first, or at least the Trade Paper Back, Superman/Batman: Supergirl. So closely do the two titles follow each other that Superman/Batman #19 is reprinted as Supergirl #0.
