In 1979, in an effort to regain lost market share DC decided to launch two lines of digest - a comic in a smaller physical size. The first digest was known as Best of DC Digest and featured super-hero material, both reprints and occasional new stories. The second digest was this title, Jonah Hex And Other Western Tales, a 100 pages of all reprint material. After just three issues DC discontinued it in favour of a further digest, DC Special Blue Ribbon Digest.
