Marvel joined DC in re-numbering any long-running titles should they reach a certain figure. So this 5th series reverted back to its original number had the title carried on un-interrupted since May 1968 (1st Series).
But that numbering was cancelled in favour of a whole new re-launch from issue #1 and a 6th series!
This 5th series was voted best comic series of 2005 by Wizard Magazine.
The title of Captain America finished its original numbering at #619. From #620 the title became Captain America and Bucky.
